Admission to St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan is granted with a definite understanding that the pupils/students and their parents or guardians agree in writing to comply with scholastic standards of the school and its rules and regulations.

A. Admission Requirements

  1. Kindergarten and Grade 1
    1. Photocopy of PSA Birth Certificate
    2. Photocopy of Baptismal Certificate – Original copy must be presented
    3. Two (2) ID pictures (1×1″)
    4. Satisfactory rating in SMCC Entrance Examination
    5. Age requirement
      • Junior Kinder – 4 yrs. old by May 31
      • Senior Kinder – 5 yrs. old by September 30
      • Grade 1 – 6 yrs. old by September 30
  2. Grade 2 to Grade 6 (Transferees)
    1. Photocopy of PSA Birth Certificate
    2. Certified true copy of Report Card (Form 138)
    3. Certificate of Good Moral Character
    4. Two (2) ID pictures (1×1″)

B. Registration Procedures

  1. New enrollees pay for the entrance test fee and present the receipt to the guidance in-charge.
    • KINDERGARTEN: Mental and Reading Ability (English and Filipino)
    • GRADE 1: Satisfactory ratings in the written Mental Ability and Achievement Tests in Reading, Mathematics and Filipino.
    • GRADES 2 – 6: Satisfactory ratings in the written Mental Ability and Achievement Test in Reading, Language, Filipino Mathematics and Science.
    • INTERVIEW: Kindergarten to Grade 6 applicants should obtain favorable evaluation from the interviewer.
  2. The enrollees fill in the Registration Form and have it signed by one of the admission staff.
  3. Present form/certificates required for admission to the Registrar or her/his representative for subject evaluation.
  4. See the Principal or the academic coordinator / teacher in-charge for interview, approval and validation of registration.
  5. Proceed to the Cashier’s Office to pay the fees and books.
  6. The enrollee claims his/her books and submits the registration form to the Cashier to be forwarded to the Registrar.
  7. Proceed to the I.T. in-charge for I.D. Picture taking.
  8. Enrollee is entered to the enrolment list by the Registrar.

Note: Conditional pupils/students with their parents/guardians are to be interviewed by the Principal or Discipline Coordinator and sign a Memorandum of Agreement before they can fill-up the Registration Form.

C. Terms of Payment

Upon enrolment, the pupils/students pay the complete amount for other fees and miscellaneous fees and the tuition fee for the month of June. The remaining balance is paid monthly. The breakdown of fees is posted on the bulletin board.

D. Re-admission of Old Pupils/students

  1. Pupils with one (1) failing grade in the final rating in any subject will be readmitted to the next grade level in a probationary basis.
  2. A pupil with a failing final Grade in Conduct at the end of the school year will not be readmitted.
  3. Pupils who transferred to other schools or dropped and would like to come back may be readmitted by passing the norms of admission for new pupils.
  4. The school reserves the right to refuse re-admission of pupils/students who have shown inadequacy/incompetence as regards to academic and behavioral requirements.

E. Transferees from other Schools

Transferees will be accepted upon compliance of the norms for admission of new pupils/ students and have met the academic and behavioral requirements.

F. Withdrawal and Transfer

A pupil/student may withdraw from the school at any time during the school year upon approval by the principal and by observing the following procedures:

  • Write a Letter of Intent of Withdrawal from the School which is to be noted by the Principal.
  • Submit the letter to the Registrar’s Office and secure clearance form from the same office.
  • Have this form signed by the Principal, Class adviser, Librarian, and lastly the Cashier/Registrar’s office.
  • Settle the following accounts at the Cashier’s Office:
    • A. Back Accounts
    • B. Book Accounts
    • C. Official Transcript of Records
    • D. Other financial obligations with the school
  • Present receipt of payment to the Registrar who will release the Report Card (Form 138) and upon request, forward Form 137 to the next school.
  • A pupil/student who does not comply with the above rules of withdrawal will be:
    • Considered dismissed from the school and certification of good moral character will be withheld, and
    • Disqualified for future re-admission to St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan.

G. Withdrawal and Refunds

In accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education withdrawals and refunds are subject to the following conditions. (Sec. 66, MRPS 8th Ed. 1992)

When a pupil/student registers in a school it is understood that he/she is enrolling for the entire school year for elementary or secondary course and for the entire semester for collegiate courses. A pupil/student who transfers or otherwise withdraw, in writing,

  • within two (2) weeks after the beginning of classes and has already paid the pertinent tuition and other school fees in full may be charged twenty (20%) percent.
  • After three weeks thirty (30%) percent.
  • After one month or more, if he/she withdraws, the pupil/student may be charged all the school fees in full.

However, if the transfer or withdrawal is due to a justified reason, the pupil/student shall be charged the pertinent fees only up to and including the last month of attendance.

The school considers as justifiable the following reasons:

Transfer of residence to another town, province or to another country, and sickness, duly attested by a medical certificate, that prevents the pupils/students from attending classes in any other school for the rest of the school year.
