Vision

We, the community of St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan, Inc., bearing the Ignacian Marian identity, witness to the loving compassion of Jesus, open new horizons with hope grounded in solidarity, and continually journey toward inner and social transformation for the common good.

Mission

We commit ourselves to:

  1. grow in deeper discernment and interior freedom, and to be prophetic witnesses of faith, hope, and love, marked by ethical and social responsibility;
  2. pursue innovative programs, approaches, and educational and technological strategies that form globally competent and morally grounded citizens;
  3. continuously form Ignacian Marian leaders who witness to faith, excellence, and service in varied socio-cultural settings;
  4. build resources, strengthen capabilities, and develop responsive educational directions that promote social harmony and a life of dignity; and
  5. expand our educational mission in service of the poor and those on the margins.

Goals

An educated Christian who lives the Gospel values, is dedicated and competent in every undertaking, and is imbued with a deep sense of service while upholding, appreciating, and living the cultural heritage of the Filipino people.

Objectives

Basic Education Department Objectives

At the completion of basic education, the Marian graduate is expected to:

  1. witness in daily life a dynamic love of God and country, as well as respect and concern for self and others, in ways that foster harmony within the family, school, and community;
  2. practice healthy habits for mental and physical well-being, and demonstrate positive attitudes toward study, work, and creation;
  3. communicate effectively in both oral and written Filipino and English;
  4. use basic mathematical, scientific, and technological skills in everyday life;
  5. think critically and creatively in making sound decisions;
  6. share responsibilities in home and community life for the improvement of society;
  7. participate responsibly in community activities that promote appreciation and care for the environment and public resources;
  8. cultivate self-discipline, refinement in behavior, language, and manners, and promote a culture of harmony befitting a Marian learner;
  9. live simply and develop a spirit of sharing, especially toward those in need; and
  10. demonstrate Ignacian Marian leadership at home, in school, and in the community according to one’s stage of development.

College Department Objectives

In the light of the philosophy and objectives of St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan, the College Department aims to provide students with a solid Catholic formation and a disciplined, value-centered outlook in their chosen field or profession. In particular, the College Department seeks to promote the following dimensions of formation:

  1. Moral and Spiritual Formation. To help students understand Christian moral and spiritual principles, discern Christ’s will in the concrete circumstances of life, live in conformity with His example, and share the fullness of life with others.
  2. Intellectual Formation. To provide opportunities for the internalization of Christian knowledge through the development of creative imagination, critical thinking, reflection, analysis, synthesis, and the capacity for self-determination, so that students may apply knowledge in ways that improve human life.
  3. Social Formation. To foster family solidarity and the building of a Christian community by developing leadership, healthy relationships, and sensitivity to the needs of family, community, and society.
  4. Aesthetic and Cultural Formation. To develop in students a love for truth, beauty, nature, and Filipino cultural heritage, and to nurture creativity within the context of Christian maturity.
  5. Physical Fitness Formation. To promote students’ physical well-being and fitness as an essential dimension of the harmonious and holistic development of the human person.
  6. Business and Economic Formation. To cultivate entrepreneurial awareness and practical life skills rooted in social responsibility, integrity, honesty, and industry, enabling students to contribute meaningfully to economic and social development.
